Work-in-process showing
Kestrel Studio, 200 6th St, Brooklyn
What does it mean to attempt to prolong the life of things on the verge of decay—pressing into matter and feeling its resistance? How does a visceral exchange with forgotten or discarded materials, like eggshells—a potent symbol of transformation—prompt reflection on origins and unfolding journeys, where body and material might converge and evoke their own cycles of disintegration and renewal? This is an evolving dance, sound, and installation piece.
Directed by Beth Graczyk
Sound by Aaron Gabriel
Performed by Rachel Sigrid Freeburg, Beth Graczyk & Leah Wilks

Our project is to develop, and rehearse Unstable States [working title], the seventh and most ambitious - work in the Desire Motor series. Unstable States is a performance/installation/biomaterial fabrication that investigates our connection to the materials that make up our physical world, their origins, and how they came to be in our personal space. For our residency at Dancing Grounds, we will work on movement & sound creation inspired by interaction & research of natural material origin stories alongside our fabricated and transforming biomaterials.
Join us for an informal showing on Thursday, 3/28 from 5:30-7:30pm at Dancing Grounds. Engage in a fun and informative practice of re-imagining Mardi Gra bead necklaces made from an original eggshell biomaterial as we contemplate the use of materials in our daily rituals and communal celebrations. Watch and listen as we transform these practices into sound and movement to open up space to envision new ways of being with material traditions in order to find more sustainable and renewable connections with our environment.
